Specials:
We were blessed today by Rick Eaton’s reading of scripture, the account of what happened when Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday in Matthew 21:1-11. Also, we had a mixed quartet singing in a lovely arrangement.
Sermon:
Pastor took a break for Easter from the Sermon on the Mount series, Jesus’ proclamation of the arrival of the Kingdom of God with a message titled “A Psalm of Salvation.” In his sermon Pastor reminded us about some fundamental truths about salvation. Our salvation is firstly personal. God never works with groups to bring about salvation for the group. He always deals with us as individuals. A second truth, about salvation is that Jesus purchased our salvation. The people He came to initially, His people rejected Him, part of which was executing Him. His death paid for our sins. Besides recognizing the price he paid in in purchasing our salvation, we need to understand with His sacrifice, He sets the terms of our salvation, we must accept what he offers, there is no other way. The last aspect of salvation we must keep in mind is that what we receive is worthy of our praise to Him, we should rejoice in joyful praise, and give Jesus a steadfast life in return.
