Bible Verse for Sunday Service December 12, 2021
1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
Announcements:
Today’s announcements brought joy in that the special music program announced last week, occurred today. For the children’s bell choir, members of the congregation were invited to help out. A choir practice after church was announced, perhaps for the Christmas Eve service, which is at 5:30PM. Jimmy Sutton who has been running the sound and video became a member of the church last weekend. We were all blessed in hearing his testimony. If anyone else is interested in membership or baptism, please let Pastor Jim know. Lastly, if anyone wants to provide a Poinsettia or Christmas card for the church please do. Poinsettias will decorate the sanctuary, the Christmas cards will be pinned to the foyer bulletin board.
Sermon:
For the Advent season, Pastor spoke on the Matthew, 1:18-26, the Characters of Christmas. Of course the most important character is Jesus himself, a perfect savior, born of a virgin, who is God incarnate. Besides Jesus, Joseph is another character introduced in these verses. He is the model servant in his obedience. Pastor also preached on his faithfulness. Both these characters deserve our emulation. And that is what Pastor exhorted us to do.
