John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[a] from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Announcements:
With Christmas now past, our announcements focus on thanking those who made it special. Pastor thanks all those helped with the Christmas decorations including setting up the tree. All those lovely poinsettias were given in memory of Virginia Locke and Henry Weschenfelder. Christmas makes us think of snow, and it has been snowing, and the reason we can maneuver in the parking lot is Benny Hofer’s plowing. Thank you Benny. AWANA continues its break until January 5, 2022. Our deacons will be meeting on January 13 to make nominations for church offices, and planning the budget that we will discuss at the annual meeting and potluck on January 23.
Sermon:
For the Christmas Season, Advent, Pastor continued in Matthew 2:12-23 with the theme, “The Government on His Shoulders.” While Jesus is only around two years old, this passage illustrates that Jesus is a true king, who has subjects and who sovereingly reigns. It illustrates his victory of Satan, it records the sorrow of those mothers in Bethlehem who lost their children, and it shows the certainty of the scriptures. In all these things, it is proof of our Savior. In God’s Kingdom, things don’t just happen to those that believe in God. In all, a lovely, comforting reminder for us to hold to this last part of the year.
