Bible Verses for Service June 18, 2023

Romans 8:39

nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Joshua 24:15

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

Special:

Jimmy & Sharon Sutton blessed Shepherd Bible Church today with a musical special, singing Palms of Victory to the music of the Gaithers. If you would like to learn more about this very unusual song, you can read about it here. You can also see the video on Rumble through this link.

Sermon:

Tom Berry stood in for Pastor Jim today. He spoke to us about patience. Introducing the topic by telling a story of how when he was young, he tried the patience of a neighbor by breaking all the tools he was provided with to do gardening chores. After reminding us all about why we need patience to function as Christians, Tom also reminded us that our patience and God’s patience are two different things. And, when we have a God focus on timing, we can do a lot better in maintaining our patience.

In discussing patience, Tom started with Scripture in Genesis, the story of Noah’s patience, and continued into the New Testament with many references to patience in Paul’s epistles. So let’s remember to think of the patience of the Lord can bestow on us when we put our trust in Him and have the Holy Spirit come live in us. And, lets call on that divine gift of patience as we live with others.
