Service May 1st, 2022 – Communion Collection for Ukraine

Bible Verses for Sunday Service May 1, 2022

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Deuteronomy 32:2-3

May my teaching drop as the rain,
    my speech distill as the dew,
like gentle rain upon the tender grass,
    and like showers upon the herb.
For I will proclaim the name of the Lord;
    ascribe greatness to our God!

Sermon:

Today Pastor continued in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ proclamation of the arrival of the Kingdom of God with a message titled “Antidote to Anxiety,” on Matthew 6:25-34 where Jesus admonishes us not to worry. Pastor addressed this topic in two ways. Firstly, we should remember our Father in heaven. He is faithful to us, and He is sovereign over the entire universe. Most importantly for us, he is a patient Father, working on us. How can we anxious with such a Father looking after us?

Second, Pastor advised us to avoid anxiety by keeping our focus. we need to focus on the right priorities, God’s priorities. We can do this if we also focus on the right day, today, not yesterday or tomorrow. Pastor helped us understand this by sharing a quote from Fulton Oursler:

Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves – regret for the past and fear of the future.

Let’s take this sermon to heart and live today without regret about the past and with worry about the future. Let’s be present in God’s Kingdom and available to Him.
