Announcements:
We welcome our special guests today, Jim and Ellen McBride and Cody Ross, the KGLE Cowboys. The McBrides are from Glendive and recently visited us for Tom Berry’s testimony. Cody makes his home in Billings. They have sung together for many years. They chose the name for their trio from Jim and Cody working at KGLE radio, a Christian radio station in Glendive. During service today, they will perform a couple of songs, and then bless us all with a program of music after today’s dinner. Be sure to stay for dinner if you can to hear them sing.
We will have our Thanksgiving Dinner right after Church on Sunday. We look forward to a delicious dinner with all the Thanksgiving dishes. After lunch, we will also have a music program. Thank you to everyone who helped with the food and to Brianne Hofer for her work in the planning and setup.
It has finally arrived, Christmas Box Sunday. We will pray for God’s blessing on the 60 boxes that the Awana Children packed to be included in the Samaritan’s purse Christmas Child Outreach. Needy children in the world will receive these boxes and also hear about and possibly receive the greatest gift, salvation in Christ. Thank you to all who donated items to be included in the boxes, and to those who helped with shipping. We also thank Natasha Zabel and Gaylene Miller for their work in organizing the project for our church.
Next Sunday we will have choir practice for a Christmas special that the choir will be presenting to the residents at the Wyndstone retirement center on December 3rd.
Special:
The KGLE Cowboyz provide special music today both in the service and after the service during the Thanksgiving Celebration. They sang “Thank you Lord for Your Blessings on Me.” This song was written by James Easter. They also performed “A living Prayer.” Written by Ron Brock, this song was first performed by Alison Krauss and Union Station. You can find this performance on Rumble here.
Sermon:
This Sunday, Pastor Jim continued his messages center around end times and the security we have as believers with a sermon from Micah 4:1-5 he called “Sitting Under Our Vine and Fig Tree.” In this section of Micah, Pastor discussed the very vivid word picture of peace and prosperity given by God to Micah during a time of great uncertainty. Pastor talked about how this picture has featured in our history, used by our first president. This picture should be meaningful for Jews today in what they are experiencing in Israel. It should also provide comfort to us. Better times are coming because of the One who promised. Pastor expanded on this theme in three points.
To begin, Pastor asked us to think about the certainty that brings security. Why? Because God spoke it and it will come to pass. We know this because God does not lie, He is always truthful. Jesus wore a crown of thorns the first time he came. When he comes back as King of Kings he will wear that crown. We can be sure of this not only because God is truthful, but also because God is powerful. Whatever wills, He can do. Things here change, appear to get better or worse, but He remains constant in His promises. Whatever the circumstances, Jesus can bring God’s plan as foretold in Scripture when he returns.
For his second point, Pastor asked us to remember who the authority is who brings this security, Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Seated in His throne in Jerusalem, he will be personally present to usher in His Kingdom. This presence of the King is truly a wonderful blessing to us. We can see today, if we wished, where he walked and taught in Jerusalem. When he comes, we can see Him in person during His millennial reign. Besides His presence, Pastor asked us to remember the peace that surrounds and is provided by our King. Jesus will establish world peace, the constant troubles and wars of this era will be gone. Everyone will bow to His rule and His way. His desires for the world will rule.
Lastly in a short concluding thought, Pastor reminded us of the perpetuity of our security. We must not forget that what is promised in the Second Coming is eternal, continual peace. To keep this in mind, Pastor reminded us of Jesus talking about Nathaniel before he met him. How He say him under the tree in his daily devotions. Shouldn’t we have this picture in mind so that Jesus sees us in our daily devotions, and that vision sustains us, give us the security of Him.
